Clive Longbottom, Puzzled (from the series: The IT Analyst Gallery)

Clive Longbottom is the leading light and founder of Quocirca, a UK analyst company. On the company’s web site he is self-described as “Service Director for Business Processes Facilitation”, which means whatever it means. Clive’s bio claims a research focus on collaborative tools, workflow, business process discovery and management tools, service-based architectures and outsourcing, plus associated areas such as security, voice/data convergence and IT asset optimisation. The truth is that Clive’s been in the IT analysis field long enough to know as much about the whole IT field as anyone that chooses to sport the title IT Analyst.

“Quocirca”, as I’m sure you know, is Latin for “wherefore” or “on account of which“, as in Horace’s Satirarum, which I’m sure you’ve read, where Horace concludes:“QuoCirca vivite fortes fortiaque adversis opponite pectora rebus”, which means: “Wherefore live as brave men and face adversity with stout hearts”, as I’m sure you know.

This image captures Clive at a recent Avaya analyst conference, firmly trapped inside a jigsaw puzzle.
