I met Jon a long long time ago when we were both doing a presentation for Legato somewhere in Austria, I think. (Do you remember Legato? they were acquired by EMC). Jon gave the best presentation I’ve ever seen on data storage.

I later learned that he had published a stream of books on the topic, which sold rather well in the wake of 9/11, when no-one had to draw attention to the need for disaster recovery. I ran into Jon earlier this year at CA World, but we never even had time to share a beer. This image is derived from a photo I found of Jon on the web, when I was searching for something else. So I blew it up, posterized it, shrank it again and put it on this page for the world to see.
