Lake Travis Gives Birth To A Cloud (from the series: The Secret Life of Clouds)

Out on Lake Travis, in the early morning, clouds are sometimes born. Looking from my window over the lake you can be witness to the process. The morning sunrise creeps over the horizon with all its pinks and golds, and in the process seems to conjure a cloud from the lake. For a while the cloud rests on the lake, almost like and infant on the belly of its mother and then, called by the sun and the breeze, it breaks away.

Soon it is floating higher than the turkey vultures fly and drifting towards the horizon. It ascends into a world that is troubled only by the presumptuous airplanes of man and the horrific rage of tornadoes.
