Roy Illsley is a senior research analyst at the Butler Group. He is seen here standing out from other analysts, including Fran Howarth sitting next to him, by virtue of the back gound texture in the image. At events like this one - a CA Analyst Symposium - he can normally be found in the tightly knit groups of Brit analysts that are drawn together by shared jet lag and a healthy thirst.

At the first night of any analyst gathering I normally join this crowd at the introductory cocktail party, drawn by the simple desire to listen to British accents, while imbibing white wine. In general the conversation will range from industry gossip to soccer by way of the weather, with possible digressions that actually involve discussing technology. As Roy’s specialty is System Management, I bump into him at least a few times every year - but truth to tell, I know almost nothing about him. I scanned the web in vain to find a detailed personal profile - there’s probably one lurking somewhere on the Butler Group web site.
