The Inevitable Dilemma of Now (from the series: Photosyntheticism)
“Now” is the name of the place we inhabit. The past is our mythology that describes in glorious detail how we came to the place we inhabit. The future is our collection of superstitions that we depend upon to describe the rambling destiny of the place we inhabit. When we speak of “now”, we reduce ourselves to a statue. In “now” nothing at all moves. Everything is where it is and it stays there, frozen as when the music stopped.
Our mythology of the past is mundane. There were rooms we entered and rooms we left. Our journey to the place we inhabit is thus a corridor of many rooms. As we moved through our past we carved out the corridor. Our future is much the same. We will doubtless carve out more of this corridor as we move from room to room in the place we inhabit.
This is what we were. This is what we are. This is what we will be.
