I read at least one book each week on my iPod Touch, and I love Stanza. When the iPad comes out (aka 10in iPod) I will likely buy it to be able to read all those thousands of scientific Journal pdf files which I have on my Mac (and which are not suitable for the iPod's small screen), but for text only the iPod Touch / Stanza combo is marvelous.

You make a good point. Nevertheless, Stanza has 1 million plus users.

Robin,
Word processing seems an imperfect analogy because the form factor was the same. I have to believe--and maybe it's just my old eyes--that there's a limit to how much people are willing to read on an iPhone, i.e. pocketable--form factor. I do indeed read various things on my Treo but I wouldn't read a book there.

I'm not going to argue that a more general purpose Kindle form-factor device wouldn't be interesting; it would. But that's the relevant comparison. Something with the physical characteristics of the Kindle with a more open architecture.
