The Power of Marketing

The video below was the winner of the NFB Online Competition, Cannes 2008. It’s entitled Historia de un Letrero (The Story of a Sign) although I’d personally be inclined to retitle it “the power of marketing”. It was also named best short film in the Festival Internacional de Cine en Corto and won the Hispanoamerican jury award in the Short Shorts Film Festival in Mexico City. It was created by Alonso Alvarez Barreda, a Mexican who is probably destined for greater things.

The power of this is not so much in the clever sign, which is powerful in itself, but in the way the music and camera orchestrate the whole idea. Enjoy!
